G: What does beauty truly mean to you? Can you tell us about your first childhood beauty memory?
MC: To me, beauty is more than just skin deep. It is about feeling content and at peace with yourself, which radiates a natural glow. Beauty and is all about confidence and self-love. My first childhood beauty memory was a lip gloss with a bit of a tint in it. That is the only makeup that my mom allowed me to use. When I was a kid, she would buy me these little bottles of lip gloss in distinct colors.
G: From your pageant days to now, how do you think the beauty industry has evolved over the years?
MC: The beauty industry has evolved significantly from my pageant days. It has shifted focus to holistic well-being, embracing diversity and inclusivity. There is a greater emphasis on self-care and mental health. Social media has empowered individuals to redefine beauty standards and break the norm. Overall, the industry has become more inclusive, empowering, and reflective of our diverse world.
G: What is one beauty advice you have received from your mother or grandmother that changed your life?
MC: My mother always tells me; happy girls are the prettiest. And over time, I have come to realize it too – If you are happy from within, I swear to you, you genuinely look nicer!
G: What will you say is your one biggest beauty regret?
MC: When I look back, I see quite a few of them! I started applying makeup when I entered pageantry, and I enjoyed playing with my mother’s cosmetics during my childhood and adolescence but had no idea how to apply it! My makeup application has developed and continues to evolve. Especially now, thanks to Estée Lauder.
G: What is one beauty hack you wish you knew earlier in your career?
MC: Recently, I have been loving mixing the Advanced Night Repair serum with my lipstick to create a blush for a natural flushed look. I wish I did it sooner!
G: Can you tell us a bit about your current skin skincare routine?
MC: My routine is quite simple. My morning starts by cleansing my skin, then I apply moisturizer and eye cream. I always wear sunscreen – my go to is the Estée Lauder Perfectionist Pro Multi-Defense Aqua UV Gel SPF 50. Before sleeping, the first thing I do is double cleanse because I like to take off all my makeup. My first cleanser is oil based and then I use another cleanser to remove whatever remains on the skin. Then I like to use the Advanced Night Repair Serum followed by a deeply hydrating moisturizer and I finish my routine with the Advanced Night Repair Eye Supercharged Complex.
G: What’s your most favorite red carpet look and why?
MC: It is tough to pick just one, but if I had to choose, I would say my favorite was the Black Surya Sarkar dress that I wore last year. The moment I put it on, I instantly fell in love with how it looked. The whole look put together made me feel super confident.
G: What’s your go-to DIY remedy you love using for your skin?
MC: Whenever I have some spare time in the morning, I make a face mask using gram flour, yoghurt, and a pinch of turmeric. This works wonders for my skin as it helps in reducing pigmentation and de-tanning, retains moisture, and even exfoliates the skin well.
G: What’s your one self-care practice that transformed your mindset?
MC: Stop worrying about the future and live in the moment. Often, particularly when we are young and ambitious, we tend to worry about what’s going to happen tomorrow and we forget to cherish what’s happening in the moment.
