From relying on traditional honey to indulging in natural concoctions, Rakul Preet Singh ensures to incorporate humble kitchen ingredients in her skincare regime. However, the go-to hydrating component she swears by for supple natural glowing skin is banana. Banana is rich in potassium and it not only aids in reducing skin dryness but also gives a natural glow and softens the skin.

3 simple ways to add banana to your skincare regime:

Banana, lime and honey mask for dehydrated dry skin

A powerhouse of essential nutrients, banana has been an evident favourite of nutritionists, dieticians, and beauty experts in tales as old as time. The actress uses a banana face mask regularly, which has many benefits. To make the mask starts by mashing your favourite fruit, a banana, in a bowl. And then puts in the juice of half a lemon (with one whole mashed banana). Lastly, add one teaspoon of honey and mixes all the ingredients. Apply it gently, after the face mask dries, washes it off with water. 

Ripe banana, cucumber and papaya mask for pigmented skin

This revitalising mask combines the goodness of cucumber and papaya with our good ol’ bananas to nurture oily skin. Papaya helps reduce pigmentation; cucumber hydrates and soothes inflammation caused by excessive sebum production, banana softens and feeds anti-oxidants to dull and dehydrated skin. To make the mask, Blend 1/4th papaya, 1/4th peeled cucumber and half a peeled banana together in a blender to form a smooth paste. Apply this all over your face, neck and decolletage and let it sit for 15-20 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water.

Banana and yoghurt mask for wrinkled skin

Yoghurt is a cult favourite in the DIY community. From minimising the appearance of pores and fine lines to its antioxidant properties that fight free radicals caused by environmental factors; we can’t stop raving enough. The lactic acid present in yoghurt helps even out skin tone while tightening pores for brighter, younger-looking skin. To make this recipe, mash half a ripe banana with mix it with 2 tbsp of fresh yoghurt. Apply an even layer, and allow it to sit for 15 minutes before rinsing it off with lukewarm to cold water.
